Traveltek is a mature cloud customer, using a mixture of AWS’ services and technology to deliver their travel technology solutions. Traveltek’s AWS usage is continually evolving to ensure it is performing optimally and adapting to meet customer needs. Traveltek therefore required an agile cloud reseller who could support their continually evolving requirements.
Traveltek was looking for a cloud FinOps partner who was able to optimize cloud costs in a non-restrictive and flexible way. This would enable the Traveltek team to focus on delivering the best possible solutions to their end-customers, safe in the knowledge that Strategic Blue are experts in cloud cost reduction and proactively identifying new savings opportunities.
Results
Thanks to Strategic Blue’s cloud FinOps expertise, Traveltek currently saves 12% on their monthly AWS bill. These cost savings have remained consistent despite changes to Traveltek’s AWS infrastructure and an 8% increase in usage over the past year. The Traveltek team now has additional time and budget which they use to focus on more important tasks, such as product development and delivering the best customer experience possible to their end-customers.

Solution
The solution was clear. Traveltek needed an AWS reseller that understands how to optimize AWS costs using a careful blend of reserved instances and savings plans. Working closely together, Strategic Blue ensured that Traveltek’s technical changes were fully compatible with existing reserved instances and saving plans in order to maintain business agility whilst preventing commitment wastage and overspend.
Strategic Blue also tailored Traveltek’s dashboard to their exact reporting requirements, helping to identify key cloud consumption trends and accurately forecast AWS costs. Having access to this data has empowered Traveltek to promote a cost-focussed mentality within the organisation. Plans to further develop and tailor Traveltek’s dashboard include more tagging visuals to help the team dig deeper into AWS cost and usage data.
Regular monthly meetings are in place to make sure we are on top of everything cloud costs related, whether that’s exploring additional savings, cost reporting requirements or other cost-focussed initiatives.
