A Security Perspective

We follow a Principle of Least Privilege and operate in a way that makes it easy to isolate and audit our activity. We make use of cost and usage metadata only, we need no access to the data within your cloud accounts and do not affect technical cloud operation or configuration.

Secure Cloud Cost Optimization

AWS provides discounts in exchange for Reserved Instance and Savings Plan commitments to use specific services or spend an agreed amount over a 1 or 3 year term. We use RIs & SPs to deliver these savings but without creating the standard 1 and 3 year lock-in to a particular usage profile.

This “rate optimization” is an entirely financial form of cloud cost saving so requires no technical infrastructure changes. We analyze metadata about what cloud services you’re using and what costs AWS has applied. We manage commitments in dedicated AWS accounts that are entirely separate to your cloud accounts.

Can I maintain compliance with our security standards?

For those responsible for security we understand that how we impact compliance, your data and privacy is at least as important to you as the cloud cost savings we’ll generate.

Metadata access only

The only data we need is AWS cost and usage metadata. We do not need access to the data within your accounts and do not affect technical cloud operation or configuration.

Isolation and auditing

We manage RIs and SPs in AWS accounts created specifically for our use. They are entirely separate from your accounts, generate no cloud usage and make auditing easy.

Sovereignty and Processing

AWS invoices all originate in the US, and our processing of metadata also occurs in the US (North Virginia). Further information is available in our Data Privacy Policy

Secure proprietary technology

Technical controls enforce role-based-access and device policies. Data is encrypted. We deploy on AWS, design with security at the center and have ISO 27001 accreditation. Routine penetration tests help validate the security of our infrastructure.

People & process controls

We vet staff, create strict separation of duties and complete regular security training. Clearly defined processes, certified against industry recognized standards set expectations and ensure a consistently high standard of security best practice.

Clear contractual obligations

Contracts reinforce our commitment to data protection and security. They include statements on access and data protection, non-disclosure provision and Portal terms to protect confidentiality.
